Paint-A-Thon (Rain Date - Saturday, September 18th) 7:30AM – 5:00PM
Voices is proud to be taking part in the north suburban community Paint-A-Thon, sponsored by the Volunteer Center in Arlington Heights. This will make our 17th year participating, and still remains one of our favorite events. The Paint-A-Thon is a unique community partnership designed to paint the homes owned and occupied by persons with limited financial resources who are 60 years of age or older and/or have a permanent disability, and are unable to do the work themselves. The paint project utilizes the support of many community organizations and, most importantly, the time and effort contributed by many volunteers. In many ways, a Paint-A-Thon is like an old-fashioned barn raising. The spirit is still the same...neighbors helping neighbors, people working together to enhance their community. Through in-kind donations and considerable volunteer support, the costs and administrative needs are kept to a minimum. The end result is that the lives of the homeowners, volunteers and supporters have been enriched by this wonderful act of generosity, and the community's appearance is improved. We’re looking to fill our volunteer list, so if you’re interested in helping, please Email Jeff@stvoices.org or call the Voices Hotline at 847-358-6485 so we can make proper arrangements for transportation. Lunch will also be provided. To be of service to those in need is one of the most gratifying acts of kindness one can perform. Please consider donating some of you time and effort to make an impactful difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Please help us reach our goal of collecting 500 non-perishable items for our local food pantry. We've placed a collection bin in the Teen Room, and every little bit helps. For so many people within our own community, the fact is, opening the refrigerator or kitchen cabinets to find little or no food is a reality. With so many of us blessed to truly have so much, please consider sharing some of that with those who need it most.
Drop-In Day Every Wednesday 4 - 8PM, Teen Room
Come to hang out with your friends, do your homework, play a game of basketball or volleyball in the gym, watch a movie, listen to music...well, you get the point! Drop-In is a great place to come, hang out, meet new people, and be yourself.
Scripture Reflection Every Wednesday 7:30PM Meet in the Teen Room For those of you wishing to explore the Bible and a deeper meaning behind Scripture, join us for these interactive sessions to discover how God’s word relates to our everyday lives. It's also an excellent way to give you spiritual guidance to help get you through the week.
